So this update i am very happy to display because it mostly contains pictures from a well deserved VACATION!!! no work, beautiful weather, and fun people. of course well start from the earliest and go up so now that youve read this synopsis scroll to the bottom and scroll up for the full effect :)
Day 106
VERY VERY Sadly, today was out last day in Seattle with Blake and Amanda. we got up early to get coffee (of course) at the original Starbucks, some tasty donuts in the market, and enjoy the chilly 60 degree weather one more time! We got the airport about 8 or so, and sat very depressed like for about an hour waiting to board the plane. we contemplated very hard the possibility of missing our flight but alas....work calls. :( We had an amazing time up here and cannot wait to come back! we liked in so much our goal now is to move up there...how and when is still up in the air but its the goal. heres one final shot of their loft showcasing the "zoo effect" i mentioned before.
Day 105
today we set out to north to see the Snowqualmie Falls. We picked up Amanda from work, ate outside at this place called the BurgerMasters, who ironically had fantastic ham and cheese melts and french fries, then drove the half hour drive to the falls. The hike wasnt bad at all and you got these great views of this huge waterfall out in the mountains. After the hike we decided that we needed to have some fish and chips while hear in Seattle before we leave. We walked down to the peir for that treat and saw a gorgeous sunset behind some of the mountains surrounding the city. If youve seen pictures of mine you know i love sunsets so i couldnt resists. after the sun went down we went uptown a little ways to this place called the Dahlia lounge for donuts and campagne. now when i saw donuts i dont mean the little fried holes at the local shipleys... these donuts we little cinnamon sugar coated puffs of deliciousness accompanies by help yourself toppings of huckleberry preserves and marscapone cheese. Topped of with a little bubbly and we had one heck of a desert! and great end to the evening.
Day 104
Today we met up with some of thier friends to go kyaking in the lake around the city. unfortunately i did not want to get my camera wet so i dont have any shots from that part but we had a blast with our little armada of boats out in the water. we ended up floating by one of the boats from Deadliest catch, Kite Hill, the place were they played paintball on 10 things i hate about you, the Sleepless in Seattle boat, got a gorgeous view of the city, and almost photo bombed some wedding shots. After kyaking we visted the Fremont Troll, snacked on nachos and regained our strength at the loft before going to Blue C sushi (where the sushi is on a rotator belt and you just pick what you want as it comes by) and finished the night meeting up with some of thier friends as well as Martin and Gavin (local College Stationers) who happened to be in Seattle at the same time doing thier Drifting Creatives Project. We saw Inglorious Bastards which i highly enjoyed then headed home to sleep after catching an awesome night scene of the city from the roof.
Day 103
Saturday we went out to a beautiful lake north? of the city for the Valve company picnic. mainly it was for the kiddos but they did have free lunch so we were there! :) Before making it to the lake we stopped by Bungie where Blake works and got a sweet tour of the facility (Halo fans be jealous). Once we got to the picnic they also had rented segways to play on and a spin art Frisbee station (shown below). they had a bubble pit also and as much as i wanted to jump in i didnt want to be THAT person so i refrained. After the picnic we picked up some groceries and went back to chill at the house. we spent the rest of the night relaxing, watching shows on netflixs, and Blake and Amanda cooked up a delicious dinner of Kobe grilled steaks, garlic red potatoes, and choclatey cookies for dessert! mmmm.
Day 102
On Friday i again awoke about 7 Seattle time up and ready to go. i forgot to mention along with adjusting to the time differerance there is another reason why i could not sleep late. the building the amanda and blake live in recently underwent a window restoration project. outside of thier window in the living room is a number of scaffoldings the the construction guys are using the fix the windows. each morning if we werent up by 8 we would be greated by men talking to each other, looking in the windows, and drilling. it made me feel sorry for zoo animals b/c now i know how they feel! :) anyway, thanks to amanda we started the day mainly with product testing Left for Dead 2 at Valve (which was awesome FYI), more touring of the city, pictures on the pier and then...... the most delicious treat of the weekend....... THE CRAB POT. This resturant serves seafood steamed fresh and poured right on your table. Then they give you these little wooden blocks and mallets and of course, top it off with a bib, and let you go wild. we had king crab, dungeness, snow crab, mussels, clams, shrimp, corn, and potatoes, and bread. it was one of the best meals i have had in a LONG time!!! after that we rolled ourselves out and finished the night off with bar hopping and Dicks hamburgers..... "straight hustlin"
Day 101
Still on Texas time, I woke up about 6:30 am Seattle time ready for the day to begin. Amanda had gone to work already and the boys were still asleep. Anxious to see the view from the loft in the daylight for the first time i climbed up to thier rooftop terrace to see the view they always brag about :) and after seeing it for myself they had every right to brag. once you walk outside you look to your right and see mount rainier in the distance, straight forward you see Pikes Market down the street and a nice view of the city, if you go left you see the space needle, and all behind you in the Puget sound. it was gorgeous! AND, it was so chilly outside i actually had to wear a hoodie....in August....it was fantastic! We spent the morning walking around city, seeing the Seattle Public Library, shopping, and ending the night at a place called the Garage for free pool and drinks on Microsoft. :)
Day 100
Today we flew out from Austin about 4:30 pm central time waving goodbye to a blistering 101 (60th consecutive day in a row i might add) and landed into Seattle Washington at 8:30 (only 6:30 pacific time however). We gathered our bag, met Amanda (unofficially sister in law) at pick up, and headed toward the city enjoying the 20 degree decrease in weather only a four hour plane ride delivered. Blake (Brents brother) had his last hockey game of the season tonight so we went to cheer him on. Blake is # 21 on the teal team FYI. After the game we went back to Blake and Amandas place, settled in, and scarffed down some tasty pizza! I then proptly went to bed b/c i was still on TX time and i was tired!
Day 99
After my last day of work for a week (praise the Lord) Brent and I headed to down to Austin to hang out with Kristen and Justin (my sister and Brother in law) for the night. This was also the first time i have met my new "nephew" Tiger. We ended up seeing not only kris and justin but justins mom and brother who were helping the brother move to u.t. that night. We had fun having dinner, playing with Tigger, and chatting for the night.
